A crucial performance aspect for patch cords is their bending performance. Because UTP twisted-pair cables typically have solid cores, their manageability is poor. Firstly, the cable is relatively stiff, making it difficult to bend. Secondly, solid core cables experience significant return loss when bent, leading to performance degradation. Therefore, there are usually specific requirements regarding the bending radius of solid core cables. In contrast, multi-strand flexible cables specifically designed for patch cord management do not have these problems.
